Marine Private First Class Brendon Carey was born in Providence, RI but grew up in Rehoboth, MA. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC and became a hero when he died suddenly while at home on leave on August 5, 2012.

Remembering Brendon:
Brendon Carey is the son of Captain (East Providence Fire Department) Michael and Dawn (King) Carey of Rehoboth, MA. He was educated in Rehoboth and was a graduate of Dighton-Rehoboth High School and he also attended U Mass Dartmouth before joining the Corps. He enjoyed Karate and boxing and was a member of the Taunton Boxing Association.

Besides his parents Brendon is survived by his brothers, Joshua Carey and his fiancé Charissa Smith of East Providence, Aaron Carey of Attleboro and Christopher Carey of Rehoboth. He is the uncle of Adrianna Carey of East Providence and the grandson of Joanne Carey of Dighton and Philip and Ellen Carey of Bridgewater. He was also the grandson of the late Dorothy King and Robert King and he is the nephew and cousin of several.
